This Montana mountain resort receives on average over 250 inches of snow during the ski season. Winter daytime temperatures average between 15 F and 35 F, and there is plenty of sunshine in Montana. In fact, the sun shines five out of seven days, and the region has relatively low humidity. With all things considered, the ski hill has good coverage for its season, however, Red Lodge Ski Area wants to be sure of that. The resort boasts the largest snowmaking program in the Northern Rockies. So, in the unlikely event that the snow gods are not favorable to the ski area, the snow will still fall, just not from the sky above.

Envision a trail map where there are 70 trails and groomed sloops, 30 acres of extreme chute skiing, and 60 acres of gladed tree skiing. The resort boasts 2 high-speed detachable quads, 4 double chairs, 1 triple chair, and 1 mighty mite hand tow. Resort lift capacity enables movement of 10,690 skiers per hour.

The skiing in Red Lodge is thrilling for skiers and boarders of all levels of experience. Trail maps will indicate the difficulty levels for each run, but here are few to get you started. Beginners will love "Miami Beach" for its gentle terrain, open spaces and room to practice. "Lazy M" is a 2.5 mile long cruiser that appeals to intermediates and experts. Advanced skiers will definitely get a thrill from the chutes of the Main Drainage. The terrain park is welcome to skiers and snowboarders alike. This quarter mile long run with step-ups, tabletops, spines and rails is groomed every week and the features are upgraded and/or changed at least every two weeks.

With 2,400 vertical feet and 1,600 skiable acres filled with groomed runs, trees, and chutes, this mountain can satisfy everyone from the beginner and intermediate rider, to the powder hungry daredevil. Red Lodge offers lots of powder, few crowds, never a wait in the lift lines, and nearby parking. The resort caters to families, with children's daycare for 1-4 year olds, and ski programs for kids aged 3 to 12.
