Cooke City is a small town with old west charm. Located only three miles from the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Cooke City sits in the heart of the beautiful Beartooth Mountains.

Naturally, then, it is a town with a lot to offer those wanting to get away from it all.

Lodgings include clean cozy cabin rentals with full amenities, including satellite television and private bathrooms with full size bath tub and shower. Additionally, there are vacation rentals, and hotels and motels, too.

In the summertime, you can enjoy fishing, hiking, horseback trips, nature and wildlife viewing. Normally, July and August are excellent months to see wildflowers in the mountains surrounding Cooke City. There's also the spectacular drive over to the Beartooth Mountains, or down the Chief Joseph Highway for some spectacular alpine vistas.

But it's wintertime snowmobiling that makes Cooke City most famous. So much so that the makers of both Yamaha and Arctic Cat snowmobiles have chosen this area as a test site and promotional film location for their machines. What better endorsement for Cooke City than this!

So, for the most fun in the snow with the best terrain at your disposal, head to Cooke City, Montana!
