Wildflowers
Because Red Lodge is nestled between the high mountains and the beginning of the Great Plains, there are a variety of wonderful sights and places to explore including mountain trails, pristine lakes and wildflower covered meadows.
Within a short distance from Red Lodge, Montana, the traveler can find himself/herself immersed in all that is great about the mountains and the plains. He/she can enjoy breathtaking views, exhilarating hiking, and quiet contemplation.
The area is dotted with a multitude of lakes and high plateaus. From the high points, the views are spectacular including the carpeted valleys covered with brilliant, vibrant colored wildflowers. The summer season is short, but the wildflowers shouldn't be missed.
Despite the short summer season, the altitude of the lands around Red Lodge create a moister environment than on other lands and the prairies here remain green long into the summer. The wild flowers in the fields here are usually best in June, when the ground is still full of moisture from the melting snow. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture this spectacular show of color.
