National Ski Joring Finals

Although originating in Scandinavia, it is no surprise that ski joring has found its way to the Wild West, where steep snow covered slopes lure skiers and high plains raise skilled cowboys. Imagine a strong horse and skilled rider pulling an alpine skier over a handful of jumps and through twenty racing gates. The event is called ski joring and The Home of Champions Rodeo Grounds in Red Lodge, MT has hosted the National Ski Joring Finals for many years.

Competitors arrive from the entire North American Ski Joring Circuit and compete for two days for the best combined times. The event is fun for families, friends, and even for the hard working horses. There is a Junior Division, an X-Joring for snowboarders who want to join in on the fun, a long jump competition, and a Master's Division.

The National Ski Joring Finals are typically held on a weekend in mid March. Riders and skiers meet mid morning on Saturday to hear the rules and inspect the course. Then the fun begins with the Pee-Wee division, followed by Juniors, Women, Master's, Open, X-Joring, and the Longest Jump. Come experience the fun when the Wild West goes skiing.
