Western Heritage Center

The Western Heritage Center is situated in Billings, Montana. It focuses on the unique personal perspectives, stories and culture of each generation of locals to build a richer and much broader view of history. Their coverage spans all nationalities, from early Native Americans to recent immigrants and settlers.

History as told by those who experienced it is the main focus of Billings, Montana's Western Heritage Center. It reaches out to varied nationalities, from pre-American history, through to the modern day, using the tales, experiences and knowledge of average people within the community and surrounding areas.

The center consists of varied historical buildings with constantly altering exhibitions, as well as more permanent exhibits of Wild West art. Varied historical programs are open to the public with live interactions with story tellers of history and the ability for guests to learn from first hand from people who themselves or through knowledge of their ancestors, have a unique view and recording of history.

The Western Heritage Center has over sixteen thousand artefacts such as paintings, textiles, clothes, correspondence, newspapers and photographs. Each one is displayed in their original form for all to see and discover.

The center is located on Montana Avenue. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Admission costs $5/adult, $3/students and seniors, $1/kids under age twelve.
