Pictograph Cave State Park is situated close to Billings in Montana. In fact, it is considered to be one of the state's most important archaeological and historical sites, attracting thousands of curious visitors annually.

When visiting Billings in Montana, people of all ages can enjoy a day out with excitement and education at the Pictograph Cave State Park. This nationally protected area is home to some of the world's most treasured cave pictures from the time of prehistoric type hunters.

The park sits alongside a cliff made of sandstone, bordered on the other side by a scenic valley. The site is characterized by three caves, proof that prehistoric humans had inhabited the area more than four thousand, five hundred years in the past. In fact, the pictographs within the caves were created over two hundred years before the birth of Christ, and more than thirty thousand historical artefacts have been found.

The site was discovered in the later thirties and is still to this day a place of archaeological discovery. Visitors can wander down its short trail, enjoying personally guided tours, varied events, picnics and even cycling (road only). Other activities include hiking, wildlife watching and photography.
