Granite Peak is the highest point in Montana at 12,799 feet, or 3901 meters. Resembling a huge, jagged meat cleaver, this rugged and remote peak has a four billion year old history and a brutal beauty.
Located in the Beartooth Range in the Rockies, Granite Peak is one of the more difficult summits to top for hikers and mountaineers. It is possible to climb the peak in a very long day hike, however it is highly recommended to do this peak as an overnighter.

This late ascent allows Granite Peak to claim itself as the last of the fifty states highpoints to have been summited.
